01How a business gets listed

Most listings here were compiled by us from public and commercial sources — the kind of information a business puts on its own signboard, its shopfront, its website or its public registration. We did not ask each business first, which is normal for a directory and is still worth stating plainly.

The rest were added by the owners themselves, free, through the listing pages on this site.

We do not accept payment to add a listing, to rank one above another, or to make one look better than it is.

02Something on my listing is wrong

Two ways to fix it, and the faster one needs nothing from us. Claim the page and correct it yourself — the description, services, address, opening hours and which contact details are public are all yours to edit once the listing is.

Or send us the page address and what should change, at hello@gullydirectory.com. Pasting the link saves a round trip. We usually correct it the same working day.

You do not have to pay for a correction, ever, and you do not have to create an account to ask for one.

03Claiming a listing

Claiming proves you speak for the business, and it is what puts you in control of the page. There are two routes:

• If the listing carries a website at your own domain, we send a code to an address at that domain. That is automatic and takes a minute.
• If it does not, you tell us who you are and your relation to the business, and a person here reads it. That takes a working day or so.

Claiming hands you the page. It does not verify the business — that is a separate check, described below.

04What verification means

Send us a GST certificate, Udyam registration or shop and establishment certificate and somebody here reads it, confirms the business exists and that you speak for it, and marks the listing verified.

The badge means exactly that and nothing more. It is not a rating, a recommendation, or any statement about the quality of the work. We do not sell it, and no amount of money will get it onto a listing we have not checked.

Documents you send are used for that review and are never shown publicly.

Verification is also what opens the enquiry form on a listing. An enquiry needs somebody real at the other end, and until the check is done there is nobody we can promise will receive it.

05Contact details, and what is public

On a listing you have claimed, phone, WhatsApp and email are three separate switches. A phone number stays hidden until you choose to show it. Some businesses want the calls; others would rather everything arrived in writing. Both are fine.

We do not publish personal addresses or personal mobile numbers where we know them to be personal rather than the business's. If we have got that wrong on your listing, tell us and it comes off the same day.

06Having a listing removed

Write to hello@gullydirectory.com from an address connected to the business, or ring +91 80958 58589, and say which page you want taken down. We remove it. There is no fee, no form, no retention offer and no requirement to create an account first.

We will ask enough to be satisfied you speak for the business, because taking down a competitor's listing would otherwise be trivially easy. That is the only hurdle, and it is not meant to be a hard one.

A removed listing stops being served and drops out of search results as the search engines re-crawl the site, which is not instant and is not something we control.

07Reporting a listing

Tell us at hello@gullydirectory.com if a listing is fraudulent, impersonates a business, advertises something unlawful, or carries content that should not be published. Send the page address and what is wrong with it.

We look at every report of that kind, and we take down anything unlawful or plainly fraudulent quickly. We are a directory and not a court: where a complaint is a commercial dispute between two businesses, we will correct facts we can establish and we will not adjudicate the rest.

08What we will not do

Some of this is worth writing down, because a lot of directories do the opposite:

• We do not charge to correct or remove a listing.
• We do not sell ranking, and no listing here is placed by payment.
• We do not sell the enquiries a business receives, or pass them to its competitors.
• We do not sell the contact details in this directory as a marketing list.
• We do not sign anybody up to anything for claiming a listing.
