GullyDirectory started with 22,039 businesses already listed — most of them added by our own team, not by the owners. If you run a business in one of our 16 cities, there is a good chance a page for it already exists, sitting there with whatever address and phone number we could find at the time. Claiming that page, rather than adding a new one, is almost always the right move.
Why claim instead of add
A listing’s address on GullyDirectory — /city/locality/b/your-business — is what search engines have already found and ranked, and it is what any enquiries or views that listing has picked up belong to. Add a second listing for the same business and you split both: half the search visibility, and enquiries that might land on whichever page nobody is watching. Claiming keeps everything — the address, the services, the history — under one roof, and hands you control of it.
Two ways to claim
There are two paths, and which one applies depends on whether your business has a website.
- Domain email — instant. If your business has a website, sign in with an email address on that same domain (
you@yourbusiness.com, not a Gmail address) and we send a six-digit code to it. Enter the code and the listing is yours immediately — no waiting on a person. - Manual review — a day or two. No website, or no domain email? Tell us how you’re connected to the business — a GST number, a phone number that matches, anything that ties you to it — and a person on our team checks it by hand.
What claiming actually changes
The moment a claim goes through, the listing’s trust level moves from unclaimed to claimed — and it becomes yours to edit. You can now correct the phone number, add your hours and services, choose which contact details are public, and add your social links. What claiming does not do on its own is open enquiries — that needs verification, which is a separate step. (We cover exactly what that involves in our guide to what “verified” means.)
Can’t find your business at all? Search for it first — by name, in your city — before assuming it isn’t there. If it genuinely isn’t, you can add it from scratch in a few minutes, free.
Finding your listing
Start with a search for your business name. If a locality or two comes up empty, try just the city, or search without your business’s legal suffix (a lot of listings were imported as “Sri Lakshmi Traders” rather than “Sri Lakshmi Traders Pvt Ltd”). If it turns up, open the page and look for Claim this listing. If it genuinely doesn’t exist yet, head to List your business and add it — it costs nothing and takes about ten minutes.
